The highly anticipated sequel, Road House 2, is set to star a formidable cast of professional fighters, including Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, Michael 'Venom' Page, and Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson. Joining them are former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and GLORY heavyweight kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven. The film also welcomes back UFC veteran Jay Hieron, who previously played a fighter named Jax Harris in the original. The cast further includes former WWE superstar Dave Bautista and Aldis Hodge.
The original Road House remake, released in 2024, featured a notable appearance by Conor McGregor as Knox, a primary villain. However, McGregor is not expected to return for the sequel, as he is currently training for his own potential return to the octagon in June 2026, with Chandler as his targeted opponent. The sequel is set to be filmed in various locations, including the United Kingdom, Malta, and Savannah, Georgia, on a much larger scale than the original.
Interestingly, many of the new cast members have prior acting experience. Verhoeven, for instance, has starred in the movie Black Lotus and appeared in Den of Thieves 2. Woodley has also taken on extensive acting roles, including appearances in Straight Outta Compton and the TV series Cobra Kai. The question remains whether any of these active fighters will be sidelined for the film's production.
Based on the 1989 Patrick Swayze film, Road House is a remake that centers on an ex-UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer at a Florida bar. Here, he engages in a battle with a local crime boss who aims to develop an expensive resort on the land. The sequel promises to build upon the success of the original, blending action and drama with a diverse cast of both seasoned actors and professional fighters.
